Every few weeks (once a month), we assess students by holding mock tests to record their progress. Feedback is provided to parents and then teaching is curated and tailored to the student's needs.
Every course at Bright Hive Academy is aligned with the national curriculum and their requirements to ensure we are teaching children the correct things and making them achieve the best possible results by knowing everything that will be in the actual exams, beforehand.
The National Curriculum Assessment usually refers to the statutory assessments carried out in primary schools in England, also known as Standard Assessment Tasks (SATs).
The assessments are made up of a combination of testing and teacher assessment judgements which are used in all government-funded primary schools in England to assess the attainment of pupils against the programmes of study of the National Curriculum at the end of Key Stage 1 and 2.
The KS1 SATs are usually the first formal tests that a pupil sits, marking the beginning of their intelligence journey with us.
We evaluate their existing knowledge and add on to it, learn the fundamentals and extend them according to our syllabus so that they are prepared as best as they can be for the first time.

It is more beneficial for a student to take the KS2 SATs course with us if they have already taken the KS1 SATs course with us before, as we aim to recycle the skills they were taught in the previous course and develop them into more sophisticated ones for use with the KS2 SATs.
Fear not however, as if your child has not taken the KS2 SATs course with us before, our rigorous program prepares them to their fullest extent and ensures they perform the best they can nevertheless.

Navigating the landscape of 11+ assessments involves understanding the diverse nature of exams like the GL Assessment and the Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM) 11+. These tests are designed to evaluate a student's aptitude in key subjects such as Mathematics, English, and Reasoning, serving as a crucial gateway for entry into selective schools.
GL Assessment
The Granada Learning (GL) Assessment is widely utilised, particularly in grammar schools located in regions like Kent. It encompasses a comprehensive evaluation, measuring a student's proficiency across various subjects to determine their readiness for the challenges posed by selective admissions.
CEM 11+ Exams
The Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring (CEM), affiliated with Cambridge University Press and Assessment, is another prominent examination body. Widely adopted by grammar schools in locations including Kent, Gloucestershire, and London, the CEM 11+ exams assess a student's academic capabilities through a nuanced approach, covering subjects like Mathematics, English, and Reasoning.
Diversity Beyond Mentioned Regions
It's important to note that GL and CEM tests, among others, are not confined solely to the regions specified above. Schools in various locations may opt for these assessments as part of their selective admission criteria, contributing to the broader landscape of 11+ examinations.
Understanding the nuances of these tests is essential for parents and students alike, as it empowers them to navigate the preparation process more effectively and make informed decisions about the educational path ahead.
Grammar schools are most prevalent in certain regions of England such as the south-east, with counties like Kent, Buckinghamshire, and Surrey having a high concentration of grammar schools.

Please note that the GL and CEM tests, among others, are not limited to the locations we have listed here.
Preparation for other assessments such as the GL Assessment and CEM 11+ exams closely mirror our 11+ CSSE course, given the shared nature and structure of these examinations.
That said however, our teaching is still tailored and we may adjust our teaching methods and provision of resources based on the examinations that your child is going to sit.
